I’ll get right to the point, we’re going to be back in Auckland on the 16th July (just over two weeks). We booked our flights a few weeks ago and I have been frantic with job applications and interviews in the last few weeks.
We’re going to be staying with my parents for a few weeks before moving back into our house.
The big news that almost no one has heard is that I have a job offer. I haven’t accepted it yet as I’m expecting another one on Monday or Tuesday, but I’m pretty sure I will be accepting it (it’s an awesome step for me).
So the long and short of it is that we’ve got all the loose ends tied up. We shipped our belongings back home last week, so now all we have to do is pack our bags, get on the plane and head home to start this next phase of our life.
It’s exciting stuff, but my emotions are other positive ones such as satisfaction, relief and slight nervousness at the challenges of my new role.
But we’re certainly looking forward to catching up with all the family and friends that we haven’t seen in yonks.

Sweet man, you gonna shout us dinner at the Fools and Horses again?

I can’t quite work out if that is a snide comment about us not picking up the tab last time, or an allusion to the fact that we ended up paying for half the people’s meals (despite the fact they’d probably already paid for them).
Regardless, after seeing pic of you on facebook, I’m a bit nervous about being seen with anyone with a beard like that!

I hadn’t expected you to pick up the tab, I enjoy dinner so much I don’t mind paying. However the following day I got a call on my cellphone from Dave:
“Dude. You know Pete and Megan’s going away dinner last night?”
“Yeah, that was good aye.”
“Did you pay?”
Deep silence.
“No. I just walked out.”
“Yeah, me too.”
Ponderous silence.
“Was good though, aye?”
It was a very poorly designed restaurant – you didn’t really pass any checkouts or what have you as you left, and the staff didn’t even raise an eyebrow.
Anyway, we should do it again. I promise to pay this time! Oh, and don’t worry about the beard – the camera adds ten pounds.

Yeah, we should go out again but maybe not there. Maybe somewhere that can get all the food on the table before the first people have finished and somewhere that offers you their desert menu. I am eating for two after all!
Last times tab is all forgotton – we’ve just finished paying it off – hehe! See you soon.
