I’m a bit short on photos, but we bought a bunch of stuff over the last few weeks; a new car and lots of camping gear.

The plan is to head down to York (about an hour and a half away) tonight for three days as our alter-egos, the mild mannered pair of kiwi tourists, Pete and Megan.

So yeah, we decided that it would be a good plan going forward to equip ourselves with camping gear and save some money on the rather expensive bed and breakfasts around the UK (and maybe even continental Europe).

We’ll try and get some photos and news up on Tuesday or Wednesday after we get back.

In other news, Megan started work this week, but I’ll let her give some impressions of that when she gets a chance.

Singapore Video

Author: Pete

The other week I finally finished editing up our Singapore video. It covers footage from going through the departure gates at Auckland Airport to the flight into Manchester, England, but features 95% of stuff from Singapore.

So if you’re the sort of person who would enjoy Pete and Megan narrating Pete and Megan doing stuff, feel free to watch our video (Parts 1 and 2). After all, this site is called “peteandmegan.com”.

The Lakes District

Author: Megan

Here are a few of my favourite photos from the previously blogged Lakes District Trip. Yes, the sky was actually that blue – all week!!!!

Looking towards the fells. We walked around these ones not over them!

Amy posing for a photo on a quaint stone bridge.

Row Boats at Grasmere.

Beautiful sunset at Windermere.

I’m Back!

Author: Megan

I feel that I should have the right of reply. I was mortified when Pete informed me of his previous post – announcing my departure!

I arrived back from The Lake District on Thursday after spending four fantastic days exploring with my NZ friend Amy. I met Amy in Keswick on Sunday and we spent Monday to Wednesday walking & camping through the countryside to Grasmere (via Stonethwaite & Elterwater). On Wednesday afternoon & Thursday we explored some of the many quaint villages via the excellent Cumbria bus services before busing back to Newcastle.

We had fantastic weather the whole week. I don’t think that we saw a single cloud let alone rain! Although it wasn’t quite warm enough to try swimming in any of the lakes. We saw some fantastic views when we tramped over the top of the fells (aka hills!) and met some lovely people – including an 83 year old lady who was enjoying the day tramping and an Austrailian couple who were spending an entire month tramping around the UK and covering more than 600km (we met them on day 16 of 32 days!!!)

Highlights would have to be … trying kendal mint cake for the first time – our quiet evening at the local Rosthwaite Pub (excellent Sticky Toffee Pudding & Strongbow!) – The black herdwick lambs & their grey and brown mums (didn’t get a chance to try a herdi – burger though) – Grasmere (very pretty village) & our campsite (aka the tourist info centre!) close to Troutbeck. All in all a great week & I’m looking forward to getting back to The Lake District at some stage.

It was a long weekend here in the UK and in typical fashion Pete and I had a very lazy weekend. The weather wasn’t fantastic so we didn’t venture too far & our one project for the weekend (to buy a car) was unsuccessful.

I can’t seem to manage to upload any photos to our computer at the moment. I’ll try again later.
