Home Again..

Author: Pete

Well at least our old home, we feel like Newcastle became our home too.

You always hear people say it, but for most people here (and I’m sure it will occur more once we catch up with more people) things haven’t really changed, and it seems like we’ve only just left.  But for us, we went and had an amazing experience, saw heaps of places, made a great set of friends.

Anyway, we had a good trip back.  We got down to the airport on Monday with no problems and got down to London and on our flight to Malaysia with no hassles at all.  The flight to Kuala Lumpur seemed quite long and we only got a few hours sleep.

We got into KL at about 7:30am and dumped our cabin bags in left luggage and caught a train into the city.  We spent the day wandering around shopping for business clothes for me (poor Megan didn’t want to spend too much on maternity clothes, and they’re the only clothes she can buy at the moment).  it was reasonably successful.

We then caught the train back to the airport, had a wonderful shower and caught our flight out to Auckland.

Malaysian Airlines operate a 777 from KL to Auckland and unlike the Singapore airlines 777′s that are layed out 3 – 3 – 3 (I think) the Malaysian airlines plane was layed out 2 – 5 – 2.  So if you’re a couple and you get the two seats together it’s wonderful, like being in business class, since you don’t have to climb over a stranger or have a stranger climbing over you.

We got in at 10:30am yesterday and spent the afternoon catching up with my parents before heading off to bed early.

We slept well (not surprisingly) and today I’ve had a full day at work (pretty much unencumbered by jetlag).

It’ll probably be a while before we catch up with everyone, but in time we will!

Oh yeah, and the weather is pretty much exactly the same to what we left in Newcastle (grey, damp and about 14 degrees c).
