While I have a feeling it may run into some copyright issues somewhere down the line, Global Supremacy is a very interesting game.
Recently developed by a local New Zealand developer, Global Supremacy is a free online browser game which pitches players against each other for, guess what? Global Supremacy.
At first there are quite a few signs that this game was developed by a novice (who’s programming skills are obviously far superior to mine, but anyway…) but once you get into the game, learn the controls and start to get immersed, it’s very fun and addictive. So much so, that if I hadn’t run out of cash, this post probably wouldn’t be getting written.
The best way to understand what the game is about, is to play it. But here’s a quick summary. You start out with cash. The idea is that you build either “earning” units or “attack/defense” units in a combination in an attempt to dominate the world. The game’s a lot easier at the moment because there only a few players. So you can just build earning units and occupy vacant territory. However as the game goes on, you need to use “attack” units to destroy others units as you move around the globe.
For those who’ve played risk, it seems very similar, except that (seemingly) you can place a unit anywhere in the world, not just in territories bordering yours.
Only time will tell this game holds my attention, but it seems like a very good effort, and at $0 represents great value for money.
