In case you’re wondering, this is this page covers the technology we’re currently running.
Computing
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Socket 939) – Overclocked to 2.4Ghz
Motherboard: Asus A8N-SLI
Memory: 2GB DDR400 (pc-3200)/184 pin (Hynix Chipset – 184 pin / DIMM)
Optical Drive: LG GSA-4167BK
Hard Drive: Seagate 200GB Barracuda 7200rpm IDE (8MB Cache)
LCD: Philips 19″ 190S6FB TFT LCD
Graphics: XFX 8600GTS 256MB
Audio: Integrated and M-Audio Omni Studio
Speakers: Jazz J-9911C 5.1
Other Peripherals: Standard keyboard and G5 gaming mouse, Xbox 360 controller
We’re also running a wireless network with a D-Link DI-624. We’re currently using the internal wireless capability on my work HP laptop, the wifi on my HTC 3600i, the wifi on Megan’s Ipaq H4100 and have the PC connected via a D-Link G520 to the router.
Phones
My phone is an HTC P3600i. Megan uses a Nokia slidee thing.
Home Theatre
We’ve got a pretty cool home theatre setup on a budget.
TV: Samsung 40″ Series 6 LCD.
Blu-ray / CD Player / Media Centre: Playstation 3
Receiver: Sony STRDG820B
Speakers: Polk Audio RM6750 5.1
Headphones: Sennheiser RS120 Wireless Headphones (A+ for convenience, but C- for audio quality)
Photography / Videography
Megan: Panasonic Lumix FX01 (still small by industry standards and has taken some great shots, was great for traveling. Would definitely buy a Panasonic again).
Pete: Canon 400d dSLR with 18-55mm IS lens (absolutely love it. Taken about 1500 shots, many of which were gorgeous pictures of our gorgeous little girl). Will likely only upgrade when I get to about 30k shots and it looks like wearing out 🙂
Video (Pete): Panasonic NV-GS300. Great camera, but now has a small fault with occasional flickering. I bought it at a time when tape was still the best quality option due to hard drive and solid state memory restrictions. I wish I was buying a video camera now (Q3 2009) as your options in terms of HD, storage and connection options are awesome. However I can’t see myself buying a new video camera any time soon.
Future
Here’s a list of technology I’d like to buy (and potentially will, unlike the Aston Martin) but haven’t purchased (may be news to Meg!)
Next 12 Months:
Gran Turismo for PS3 (optimistically in the next twelve months?) / Steering Wheel
External Hard Drive for Backup Purposes
Slide/Photo/Negative Scanner
NAS (Network Attached Storage) to work with PS3 (e.g. Promise SmartStor NS2300N ~$450 or Acer Home Server (http://www.elive.co.nz/acer-easystore-home-server-nas-t15784.php))
Following 36 Months (3 years)
New Phone
Beyond
A ‘fast zoom’ lens for my Canon 400d, likely a 70-200mm f2.8 lens like this one from Sigma. Also options from Canon and Tamron (Tamron 70-200mm 1:2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro) (NZ$1500-4000). However I might wait and see if my kids are actually interested in sports given this is why I’m proposing spending thousands of dollars on a plastic tube filled with glass…
PS4 / Xbox 720

Its not my first time to go to see this website, i am browsing this site dailly and obtain good information from here everyday.
Hmm it looks like your blog ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I too am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the
whole thing. Do you have any points for first-time blog writers?
I’d certainly appreciate it.
