In hot breaking news (I just got off the phone with a helpful guy at xnet) Xnet, WorldxChange Communication’s internet arm, is no longer offering free national data to New Zealand broadband users.
The change is apparently caused by a change in our friend Telecom‘s policies. They decided that they weren’t going to allow the ISP’s to have free national data anymore. Since there was nothing xnet could do but bow down to telecom’s demands, they had to cancel the national data plans.
Fortunately, for as long as I’m in kiwiland, it will be alright, since they can’t change the conditions of their current user’s contracts, but it really sucks. Telecom, we hate you.
However, quicksilver hasn’t changed their plans yet, so if you’re after national data, you might need to be quick.
