However once I started the demo, it ended up on a sort of splash screen with a pointer that I couldn’t move. I tried the mouse, and I tried moving my controller in every direction but it didn’t work. After searching many pages, I encountered people for whom it had worked, so I switched various controls by trial and error.
Ultimately, I managed to get a mix of settings for which I could move the pointer (extremely slowly and erratically). There is one VERY important thing to remember:
In the game, pitch (up and down) are inverted, so to move the cursor down, you actually have to push up on your joystick.

I should also add that once you get into the game, control seems to be fluid and clean, and while I only played it for a few minutes, it seems to be worth the trouble. You need to click on the image in the middle of the screen with button A (with my setup). You’ll know it’s working when the music starts.
